It’s funny how things work out. Erin Rainey didn’t plan on returning to the jobs she had in college, but now that she’s opened an old-fashioned floral and candy shop in Amity, she can’t imagine doing anything else. “The Rainflower Florist & Sweets is really a dream come true,” says Erin.
After working as a florist and chocolatier in Corvallis while studying horticulture Oregon State University, she had a successful career designing commercial interior plantscapes, holiday displays and high-end home gardens in Portland and Seattle — including a stint in New Orleans creating pavilion gardens for the World Exposition.
Eventually she bought a farm outside of McMinnville to raise her family, and she worked for over 20 years in the Oregon nursery industry. She had always wanted to bring her passion and expertise to the local scene in Amity, so she opened her shop in the spring of 2017.
A full-service florist and garden-inspired living store, The Rainflower features interesting plants, unique glassware and vases, and all things Oregon.
Need flowers for a special event? “We have fresh flowers from local farms and exotic offerings from around the world. We specialize in creating custom floral arrangements for your home, business or special events,” says Erin.
"We are an old-fashioned candy shop too, offering handmade chocolates, lots of licorice, and candy for kids." You will find an amazing assortment of gummies and sours available by the pound, as well as locally made fruit preserves and seasonal treats.
Fitting for a charming florist and sweet shop, The Rainflower is located in the Trade Street Commons, one of the oldest buildings in Amity. Call, email, or come visit Erin in person at 516 Trade Street! You’ll find her in the shop most days from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
